Wendy Portillo Requests Payment

Wendy Portillo, left, was released from her school duties when she allowed the kindergarten class at Morningside Elementary school in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Alex Barton,5, was in the process of being examined and then diagnosed with a form of autism when the incident occurred on May 21, 2008. She is now trying to get back her suspension pay and her job back. She has been suspended for one year without pay. In the article, Portillo's lawyer David Walker of Stuart says, "the record may show “some proof” of Portillo’s misconduct, but the evidence is “insufficient” to warrant the unpaid suspension."
