Greetings To All

>> Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Hello autism world. It has been awhile since I have posted anything... sorry. Things have been up and down lately as behaviors needed some stabilizing, car problems, school, sickness just to name a few. I thought that I would pop in to say hello and that I am still around. I have not heard from a lot of you in a few years so I thought I would take some time to send you greetings for today. Hope that you and all of your family and friends are doing well. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Merry Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas and  Happy Holidays!

I thought that I would use my 400th post to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We are having a dark and wet Christmas. It is about 11 a.m., and it just started raining. Guess all of those wonderful outside gifts that everyone got will have to wait.

The boys are doing well, and their behavior has greatly improved. A little less stress is always a good thing. Little Eddie has been suffering with bronchitis several times this year, which tends to aggravate his asthma. He now has a nebulizer which keeps the colds from turning into bronchitis and lasting all week.

November was not a really good month for me. I went for an eye exam and found out that I have pre- glaucoma (right open angle), and high intraocular eye pressure. It may be years before I actually have it, and it is just one of those things that is in the back of my mind. After a few weeks, I found out that I have 2 non-toxic multinodular goiters and a thyroid nodule. I am supposed to have another ultrasound in six months, but I am still having pain, and a whole host of other symptoms. My normal thyroid hormones are fine, but my endocrinologist is checking my parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcium levels in my blood (possible hyperparathyroidism), but I will be calling soon to see if I can get the results of those tests. I am just ready to feel better, and hoping that these doctors are not giving me the run around on what can be done to treat it.

I hope that everyone has a safe, happy, and joyous Christmas!

Classes Are Over: Grades are posted

>> Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Spring of 2012 classes are over, and grades are in. I thought that I would take a minute and post my grades for this past semester.

  • Principles of A&P  (A)
  • Computer Concepts (A)
  • English Comp II (A)
  • College Algebra (C)
Guess that Algebra and I did not mix to well. Anyways, here is what I will be taking next semester

  • Medical Terminology (Allied Health Division) There is one for the HIT program as well, but I will have to be admitted into the program before I can take that class. This class will be online.
  • A&P I
  • Public Speaking
  • Music Appreciation

The boys are doing well, they are taking the MCT2 test this week. They have one more day of testing after today. Devin's behavior at school has gotten a lot better, so maybe he has made it through whatever was bothering him so much. Little Eddie's behavior is great too. He stays occupied with his Game Boy Advance that we got him not to long ago. We had to get him a battery pack and light for the game, and even had a little trouble with the light we received, but we were shipped another one that was tested before it ever went out. Well, I guess that I will get going, I need to be cleaning of course... that is what women do. Have a great day. See you all again soon.

Autism Awareness Day

Happy Autism Awareness Day!

I hope everyone is enjoying their day today. We are having wonderful warm weather, as we have had all winter long. We are all doing well, just very busy with college and school. The boys are in the third and fifth grades now. This will be little Eddie's last year at the school he has been going to since kindergarten. I know that he will miss it greatly. He will be going to a much bigger school next year, and I am hoping that he will adjust well. We have had excellent behavior out of Eddie this year in school. At home, he can get pretty silly. Devin on the other hand, we are having major trouble out of him at school. He is in constant trouble, and we are having a very hard time getting him the help that he needs. Applied Behavior would cost us about $44 a week, which is not doable right now. The autism clinic here in town is still working on getting Medicaid to pay for their services. The clinic has been open for several years now, yet so many children are deprived of the help because of costs. They do go into the schools and work with the children, but when I mention the boy's school they had no idea the school was even in town. So until Medicaid is accepted there, then we will have to wait on the help that he so rightfully deserves. I guess that I will close now, and finish up housework. I just wanted to drop in and tell everyone... Happy Autism Awareness Day! Give your autism friend a hug from all of us... Have a wonderful day!

Total Issue Resolved

>> Sunday, January 22, 2012

Do you hate it when others hack your blog to add a link that redirects your entire page? I sure do. I even created another blog to prevent any loss of my pages. Luckily all I had to do is look through my codes and find the one that was linking me to another site. I found it in my Entrecard widget. To prevent any future problem, I just deleted my account. Not that I was really using it anyways, but at least now I don't have to worry about it so much. Thanks to wonderful help at Blogger, I am relieved today.

Changing Web Address

Due to an expired domain name, I am forced to change the address of Autism And The World Around Me. The new address will be ourautismworld.blogspot.com. I am hoping that everyone will find it. The address will be changed by tomorrow January 21, 2012. Hopefully by changing it in blogger dashboard, it will fix my problem. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can keep my original address without buying a domain name, I would greatly appreciate it. I am having issues getting these posts to my new address as well.

Thanks again

Eddie's Nomination

Hello everyone, I thought that I would take a few minutes to update you all on everything that has been going on. We are all back in school again, but I am not sure if we are all ready. Christmas vacation came and left with us wishing that it could have been longer. Getting back in the swing of things may take some time, but not to much if we are expecting to get everything done on time. It is housekeeping inspection time as well, so we have that hovering over our heads for the time being.

Little Eddie received some great news a few days ago. I have been meaning to write about it, but it seems that other things kept getting in the way. He received a nomination to attend the 2012 Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. I would absolutely love for him to be able to attend the five day conference, but it is an impossibility. First of all, there is tuition (about $2000), then there is the fact that he is only 10 with autism and ADHD. If he was able to attend, I would have to be there by his side at all times before he would even be allowed to go. I just can not put my faith into letting him go alone, or be able to even scratch the tuition surface. I know that there are ways to have fundraisers for the tuition, but even still I would have to be there with him the entire time. Such a great honor for him, and his parents could not have been more prouder.  Congratulations Eddie!!

For those who want to know what classes I am taking this semester, I am taking College Algebra, English Comp II, Computer Concepts of Micro Apps, and Principles of Anatomy & Physiology.

I would also like to say Happy Birthday to Devin who had his 9th birthday on Jan. 7. We had a family party with just the four of us, and we gave him the Kreo-Bumblebee Transformer set. Granny (Eddie's mom) bought him a cake for me to make. It was 7:00 p.m., before I was able to get it done. We did not see Grandma (my mom) for his birthday, so I do not know what happened there. She has recently started working nights so that she can get a few more hours. She is a Medical Lab Technician at a local hospital. She recently moved into a new house next door to my grandmothers, so I guess she thought that working nights would help her out on that one.

I decided to set up blogging by email, since the computers at the college will not allow you to log on to blogger. I am hoping that it works, but then again, I do not see why it would not.

Well, I guess that I will get going. I had some time to burn so I thought that I would get something posted. Hope that you all have a wonderful day or night. Whatever your case may be. BE SAFE!!
